Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of exfoliation?
Dead skin cells are constantly accumulating on your skin. These dead cells clog your pores, cause acne breakouts, increase skin acidity and increase the likelihood of wrinkle formation.
An exfoliator, like a sugar scrub, removes these dead skin cells, helping to:
- Unclog pores
- Reveal new and healthy skin with even tones
- Reduce wrinkle formation
- Clean oil off of your skin
- Reduce acne and blackhead formation
By clearing the rough, dead skin off of your face and exposing your newer and healthier skin, you’ll reduce your need for makeup, since you will have a more even skin tone and clearer complexion.
Why use a sugar scrub?
Sugar scrubs exfoliate your skin without the use of chemicals. This is excellent if you want an all-natural approach to skin care and want to avoid using unnecessary chemicals on your skin.
What makes Essentially Smooth’s sugar scrubs different from other scrubs?
While all sugar scrubs remove dead skin and reduce acne and wrinkle formation, other sugar scrubs do not:
- Improve the effectiveness of moisturizers
- Prepare the skin for better moisturizer absorption
- Moisturize during the exfoliation process
Moisturizing is a vital step in keeping your skin soft, smooth and blemish-free, so all of these factors are very important when choosing a sugar scrub.
This is why it is our guarantee that no other sugar scrub can give you smoother skin than our scrubs can.
What is the most effective way to use a sugar scrub?
If you want to get the most out of your sugar scrub and experience smoother and softer skin, follow these steps:
- Wash body and/or face thoroughly before use
- Gently massage sugar scrub onto skin
- Wash scrub off with warm water
- Pat your skin dry
- Moisturize after use
Also, keep in mind that contents settle, so be sure to stir before use.
How often should I exfoliate?
We recommend that you exfoliate no more than 2-3 times per week.
Excessive exfoliation may cause irritation. If irritation occurs, stop using the product until irritation subsides. Then, resume use at once-per-week intervals or less. If irritation persists, consult your dermatologist.
Can I use Essentially Smooth’s sugar scrubs in conjunction with other exfoliators?
If you use our sugar scrubs along with other scrubs or exfoliators, make sure you don’t use them together, or in more frequent intervals than 2-3 times per week. As long as you schedule your exfoliation routine this way, you are free to alternate using our scrubs as well as others.
What should I do if this product causes skin irritation?
While all of our sugar scrubs use all-natural ingredients, there is always a possibility that any exfoliator may cause skin irritation, especially after excessive use. Should you encounter skin irritation after exfoliation, consult your dermatologist.
